Mindbody Beauty + Wellness Case Study

Traditionally a booking website for fitness classes, Mindbody.io needed to surface new inventory for Beauty and Wellness verticals after acquiring Booker for $150 million. I helped introduce appointment booking, search improvements, and new inventory throughout the site.

The Problem
Consumers needed a way to find and book beauty and wellness experiences, like hair cuts and massages, in addition to booking fitness experiences.

Design Approach
We first brainstormed as a team. Similar to booking fitness experiences, users either knew exactly what they wanted or wanted to try something new. Based on this insight, we decided to explore category cards for discovery, update the search experience to help users find what they were looking for, and enhance booking and checkout to include appointment booking. We then began the wireframe process where I completed the following wireframes.

Deliverables also included wireflows to help walk through the search experience across teams, especially during the development phase.


Outcome
We successfully added beauty and wellness inventory to Mindbody.io, exposing new experiences to users that weren’t available to them before. Users were able to successfully book appointments and we began to scope out adding a shopping cart experience for multiple items like add-ons and tipping.
